Pamela A. Elisofon
Practice areas
Prior to becoming a member of the BAR in 1993, Pamela A. Elisofon had extensive experience in the business world. In her early years, she worked in advertising, ultimately becoming an Account Executive. While raising her children, sons Greg and Jared, she ran her own interior decorating business, and later studied to become a certified computer programmer. In 1984, seeking employment as a computer programmer, she took a job at Unisys Corporation (nee Sperry) where she was cajoled to stay by the Law Department, becoming a Contracts Analyst after a couple of years. While working at Unisys full-time, she was sponsored and accepted into a paralegal night program at Adelphi, and, after completing her paralegal studies, earned her bachelor’s degree at night at Adelphi University. She continued to be sponsored by her friends at Unisys, going on to earn her J.D. in 1992 at St. John’s University Law School as a night student while working full-time during the day at Unisys Corp.
Pam finds that her maturity and prior years of business experience are invaluable to her legal practice. She prides herself on the individualized and personal attention that only a small office can offer. She currently practices at 26 Court Street, Brooklyn, where she shares office space with her husband Barry Elisofon, a renowned and expert matrimonial/divorce attorney.
A large portion of Pam’s practice is devoted to employment and employment discrimination law (grounded in age, race, religion, national origin, sex and disability discrimination, and including Wage & Hour issues). She has obtained very substantial recoveries for her clients in the employment arena. She also practices in the areas of wills and probate, divorce, contracts, civil litigation and real estate. Pam is admitted to practice in New York, Florida, and the Eastern and Southern District Courts of New York and the U.S. Supreme Court.
In addition to running her busy practice, Pam, a seasoned attorney with a great deal of expertise, is respected by the courts and often appointed as a referee, a guardian ad litem, a guardian and a court evaluator. For the last decade or so, she has also volunteered as an arbitrator at Kings County’s Small Claims Court.
Pamela is a past President of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association (the “BWBA”) and has served on the Board of Directors of the BWBA, the Brooklyn Bar Association, the St. John’s Alumni Association – Brooklyn Branch, and the Hypothetical Theatre Company. She is well-known and well-respected in the legal community.
Pamela also chairs the Labor and Employment Committees of the Brooklyn Bar Association (“BBA”) and the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York (“WBASNY”). She keeps up memberships in the National Employment Lawyer’s Association (“NELA”), the Torah Club, and the Jewish Lawyer’s Guild.
